Farmhouse Kitchen Reveal

I'm shy.
Well I'm not shy personally, but I'm always a little reluctant to reveal any rooms on my blog.
But with that said,
starting next month I will be holding a Farm Fresh Feature to highlight the farmhouse style of other bloggers.
Do you see where this is going? If I expect others out there to get their farm gal on and be proud to do so, I must do so also.

I decided to show my kitchen. Is it magazine worthy? Heck no!
My kitchen is just an extension of who I am...
a little different, a lot of effort and always a work in progress.

This is my version of a country farmhouse kitchen on a budget. It's a combination of vintage items, hand-me-downs, cobbled together pieces, and odds and ends from the bottom of auction boxes.
Yep, that's me!

This rustic look in my kitchen came about a year ago when
I decided to stain my cupboards before the holidays.
Never ever start a 'small' project before the holidays cause it can get large on ya real quick!
I wanted to do a dark brown wood stain to cover up our ugly worn and washed out oak cupboards.
I did a test and it was ugly, downright 'I can't live with this. Now what am I going to do?' ugly.
I was putting on a big dinner in less than a month so there was no time to paint all the cupboards.

I had an idea. I handed a cupboard door to hubby and asked if he could cut out the middle out of my upper cabinet doors cause I had an idea.
I had a pile of muslin material that was free...yards and yards of it.
A flea market vendor did not want it and said please take it off my hands. Okay.

Hubby cut out the center of the upper cupboard doors while I quickly stained them.
I then cut the material, stenciled it, and stapled it to the inside of the doors. Sweet and simple.

The shutter divider was made to block the view of the sink from the living room and front door.
Oh, who am I kidding!?!
I made it to help hide the dirty dishes.

Future plans for my kitchen...
new ceilings,
painted cupboards,
and wood plank floors.
Maybe someday.

And remember...
the first official Farm Fresh Feature will be held the fourth Monday in November,

I really decided to get over my shyness and join all these parties!
Thanks gals, for hosting!
Tuesday Parties - Knick of Time Tuesday, Cowgirl Up
Wednesday Parties - Wow Us Wednesday

Sunday Parties - Sunny Simple Sunday

Thanks for taking a peek at my farmhouse kitchen!
Sending ya farmhouse hugs,

Never ever be shy again. It is so smart I see many cool ideas to steal here. The tray on the frig for one. Plus I really like a bright kitchen and you got that alright. Love it. Makes me want a cup coffee.

I love it! It's huge!

I have two items in my house that you have - the bread bin (I'm missing the lid) and the white ironstone pitcher. Great minds think alike.

You have some really cute ideas in your kitchen. I love the silver tray with the chalk paint for a message board on the fridge and the thing (not sure of it's original purpose) on the wall over the old dresser is really nice. Have fun with your new party! Pamela

Hi, I came over from Dru's site to visit and lo and behold you have the same cupboards I do! Mine were dark to begin with and I have that oven too...is it almond colored? I have an almond old frig too and a Jennaire built in range with a grill on one side that I hate and only one burner that works! LOL!
What I don't like is the curve at the top of the cupboard doors. I saw a magazine article where they filled it in somehow with masonite routed to look like bead board but do you think I could find that magazine???? It's here...I just can't find it.
Anyway, you have really spruced it up and it is so cute and like you...I'm on a budget so there's no spending huge amounts of money to redecorate but then we love a challenge, right?
I love the shutter divider/hider and all your cute decorations~you've done a great job and it IS magazine worthy!
